The new cabinet under the Chiefministership of Dr Manik Saha in its first meeting soon after assumption of ministerial portfolios by the ministers on Monday came up with four new schemes.

ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury after the cabinet told the media that four schemes related to the overall development of the Divyangajan , Primitive Group people that is the Reang tribesmen , State health policy and revamped IT policy were agreed upon by the council of ministers.

“Since it was the first meeting and all data , figures were not available, details of the schemes cannot be told at this moment. But the cabinet decided to launch the schemes soon. The concerned departments were asked to formulate the policies within next two months. Drafts are being done at this moment”, said Chowdhury.

While there were several inaitiatives for the Divyangajan , one of the most important decisions was over all development of the Reangs in the state. The minister pointed out that the government had already got one new minister from the community Prem Kumar Reang who had been elected from Kanchanpur.

“There are about 1.85 lakhs Reang people in the state belonging to 43,316 families. Except West Tripura and Sepahijala districts in all other districts there are Reang community people. The  cabinet in its first meeting on principle decided to formulate a scheme that will give impetus to the welfare of the Reang community people in their socio-economic development, help in business , education etc”.

Apart from that the cabinet also decided to formulate a State Health Policy in line with the National Health Policy which will cover all the healthcare facilities of the state right from PHCs, CHCs to IGM or AGMC.

The IT Policy of 2017 had already lapsed in 2022 and the state government decided to redesign and remodel the new IT Policy. The New IT Policy would particularly aim at attracting the big IT MNCs like that of Wipro , Accenture, TCS etc  to invest and generate employment in the state. The IT Policy would also be in tandem with the Industrial policy of the state.
