Neermahal Jal Utsav 2026 will be held from October 7 to 9 at Melaghar, featuring boat races, swimming, yoga and cultural programmes while celebrating Rudrasagar Lake, Neermahal, Tripura’s folk traditions, natural beauty and tourism heritage.
The traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav 2026 will be held from October 7 to 9 at Melaghar, bringing together Tripura’s rich aquatic heritage, folk traditions, cultural practices and tourism potential around the iconic Neermahal and Rudrasagar Lake.
Preparations for the three-day festival were reviewed during a meeting held at the Melaghar Municipal Council conference hall, chaired by Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman. During the preparatory meeting, various aspects of the upcoming festival were discussed in detail, and necessary directions were issued to ensure proper arrangements for the event.
The annual festival, organised around the historic Neermahal, is expected to feature a variety of cultural and sporting activities. Among the key attractions will be Mansamangal-based cultural programmes, boat races, swimming competitions and yoga events. These activities are expected to add to the festive atmosphere while showcasing the cultural traditions and sporting spirit associated with the region.
According to Minister Kishor Barman, the Neermahal Jal Utsav is closely connected with the natural environment and the cultural life of communities living around Rudrasagar. The festival reflects the relationship between the lake’s waters, the surrounding ecosystem and the everyday lives, folk culture and traditional practices of the people of the area.
The event also provides an opportunity to promote Neermahal as one of Tripura’s important tourism destinations. The historic water palace, situated amid the waters of Rudrasagar Lake, remains one of the state’s prominent attractions. The combination of Neermahal’s architectural character, the natural beauty of Rudrasagar and Tripura’s traditional cultural expressions is expected to draw visitors from different parts of the state and beyond.
The festival is also intended to highlight the historical and cultural importance of Rudrasagar and its surrounding areas. Through cultural programmes, water-based activities and community participation, the event seeks to connect tourism promotion with the region’s local heritage and traditions.
