In a significant move to empower and uplift the farming community in the state, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has unveiled plans for the development of a ground breaking mobile application. This initiative aims to revolutionize the agricultural landscape by providing comprehensive market analysis and valuable information for farmers. The project will be monitored by Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL).
The mobile application is expected to cater to various aspects of agricultural needs, offering a one-stop solution for farmers.
Sudip Majumder, the Managing Director of BAPCL, secured approval from NABARD during the State Credit Seminar held in Agartala. The seminar was attended by Loken Das, General Manager of NABARD, Apurba Roy, Secretary of Finance for the Government of Tripura, and others.
The mobile application will provide farmers with real-time updates on weather conditions, essential precautions to protect their crops from natural calamities, and valuable suggestions from scientists affiliated with the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). Additionally, it will offer information on various agricultural schemes, market prices across all eight districts of Tripura, and details on the quantity of produce stored by farmers, ensuring they receive profitable prices.
Pradip Debnath, an officer of BAPCL involved in the project, emphasized that the app’s primary goal is to equip farmers with crucial information for informed decision-making. This includes market dynamics, weather forecasts, and expert advice to optimize agricultural practices.
Given the significance of obtaining accurate market prices for different agricultural products in Tripura, this initiative by NABARD and BAPCL marks a pioneering effort in the state. The collaboration is poised to enhance the socio-economic fabric of Tripura’s rural landscape, fostering sustainable agricultural development and benefiting farmers in unprecedented ways.
