In Mizoram, the Governor, General (Retd) Dr Vijay Kumar Singh said that the Election Commission has demonstrated exemplary commitment to strengthening democratic values. He said the EC has achieved a stellar reputation for conducting free and fair elections in the country.
The Governor was speaking at the National Voters’ Day celebration at the Assembly Conference Hall in Aizawl today. He said that the Election Commission has withstood the test of time and has successfully provided a level playing field for all. He said that India is a thriving democracy and the envy of neighbouring countries.
The Governor said that the main purpose of the National Voters’ Day celebration is to spread awareness among voters regarding informed participation in the electoral process. He also appealed to all the people of Mizoram to strive hard towards strengthening democratic traditions by being actively involved in the electoral process.
