The Tripura National Health Mission (NHM) has taken a significant step towards creating a more connected healthcare system in the state. On Tuesday, they announced a new program focused on registering healthcare providers and institutions for the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This initiative leverages technology to establish a seamless network of doctors, nurses, laboratories, nursing homes, pharmacies, and other healthcare entities, initially targeting West Tripura through a dedicated micro-site.

Maa Usha Charitable Trust has been entrusted with overseeing the program’s implementation in West Tripura’s urban areas. This micro-site based registration process aims to address existing challenges in implementing ABDM services. By registering healthcare providers and institutions, the program establishes a central network within the ABDM ecosystem. This network will ultimately empower Tripura’s citizens to access a wider range of digital healthcare services conveniently through the ABHA app.

The ABHA app itself offers a multitude of benefits. Users can book doctor appointments directly through the app, eliminating the need for phone calls or in-person visits. More importantly, the ABHA program assigns a unique 14-digit ABHA number to every citizen. This unique identifier acts as a digital key, allowing individuals to securely store and access their health information electronically. This not only simplifies communication between patients and healthcare providers but also streamlines access to crucial medical records. Lab reports and prescriptions become readily available through the ABHA app, eliminating the need for physical copies and long queues at hospitals or clinics.

Recognizing the importance of widespread participation, the NHM has urged all healthcare stakeholders in West Tripura to register on the micro-site. This registration process, encompassing both Healthcare Facility Registration (HFR) and Healthcare Professional Registration (HPR), will continue until July 12th, 2024. To ensure citizens can leverage the benefits of the ABHA program, ID generation camps are ongoing across Tripura in schools and health centers since June 3rd, 2024.

The launch of this micro-site based registration program marks a significant milestone in Tripura’s journey towards establishing a robust digital health infrastructure. By connecting healthcare providers and institutions within the ABDM network, the initiative empowers citizens with secure and convenient access to a wider range of digital healthcare services. This not only improves accessibility but also fosters better communication and record-keeping within the healthcare system, ultimately benefiting both patients and providers.
