Hollywood star Matt Damon has shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story from the making of Christopher Nolan’s epic film The Odyssey, revealing that he worked with a female stunt double for several challenging sequences in the movie. Speaking during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Damon explained that the stunt performer played a significant role in scenes involving the towering Laestrygonians, the mythical giants featured in Homer’s ancient Greek epic. According to the actor, the filmmakers relied on forced-perspective techniques to create the illusion of enormous giants towering over his character.
Damon disclosed that while several seven-foot stunt performers portrayed the giants, his own stunt double was a female stunt performer whose impressive physical strength left a lasting impression on him.
Recalling his experience on set, the 55-year-old actor praised her dedication and professionalism. He said she possessed “the greatest arms” he had ever seen and expressed sincere gratitude for the effort she invested in helping bring the demanding action sequences to life.
The actor noted that the stunt double was primarily used during scenes where giant creatures appear to loom over Odysseus. Although she handled specific action shots, Damon clarified that audiences still saw his own arms in most of the film. “It was almost 100 percent my arms in the movie. You gotta give it up where it’s due,” he said, acknowledging the contributions of the stunt team.
