Massive fire reduced as many as 17 huts of the rehabilitated Bru tribesmen to ashes at Hamsapara under Panisagar sub-division in North Tripura on Saturday morning. Besides 10 more huts were damaged while fire fighters tried to bring the fire under control.
It may be mentioned that on March 20, 2011 at Naisingpara 16 Brus were burnt live in a terrible fire incident even as the entire Bru refugee camps were gutted .
This time there was fortunately no causality and none was hurt also but the Brus lost their papers and documents.
The fire broke out at around 8.30 am and the cause of the fire was suspected to be short circuit. Bruno Msha, General Secretary Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum said that the fire broke out
Msha demanded that government should compensate for the loss and temporary shelters should be constructed immediately so that the rehabilitated Brus do not spend their cold winter nights in the open field..
