In Manipur, flash floods caused by heavy rainfall have created havoc in valley districts, and the state government has initiated rescue operations for the affected people. The IMD forecasts that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the state in the coming two days. Manipur has been witnessing heavy rainfall since last Monday, and the rivers are flowing above danger level now.

The IMD Imphal Centre has said that rainfall was witnessed in five districts of Manipur yesterday, and Bishnupur district recorded around 85 mm of rainfall, being the highest rainfall district. The rivers passing through Imphal Valley are overflowing and inundating the low-lying dwelling area of Imphal City now. The state government announced a public holiday for all government institutes today, while the schools will remain closed until tomorrow.

A round-the-clock control room has been set up to coordinate rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts and address the requirements of the people affected by heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides. The repair of the river bank and rescue operations have been going on right now.
