The Kailashahar subdivision was struck by tragedy on Thursday as lightning strikes claimed the life of a tribal woman and left three others critically injured. The incidents occurred in separate locations, including Manuvalley Gram Panchayat and Golakpur ADC Village.
In the first incident, 22-year-old Sanjay Bauri was struck while working in a tea garden and is currently hospitalized. The second incident involved three women: the deceased, Membarchong Halam, and the injured, Nirchanghai Halam and Renglalhai Halam, who were cultivating jhum when lightning struck. While Nirchanghai and Renglalhai are receiving treatment, Membarchong succumbed to her injuries.
Adding to the distress, the doctor on duty at Unakoti District Hospital, Dr. D.K. Pal, refused to share information with the media and allegedly mistreated journalists present.
