Four Left Front candidates for the ensuing by-polls have submitted their nominations to concerned Returning Officers. CPM candidate Anjan Das had submitted his papers for 46-Surma (SC) assembly constituency on June 1 last while Krishna Majumder (CPM) for 6-Agartala assembly constituency, Raghunath Sarkar (All India Forward Bloc) for 8-Town Bordowali assembly constituency and Shailendra Chandra Nath (CPM) for the 57-Jubarajnagar assembly constituency submitted nominations on Friday.

Krishna Majumder 6-Agartala assembly constituency filed the nomination paper to the Returning Officer Sailesh Kumar Yadav, Raghunath Sarkar from All India Forward Bloc for 8-Town Bordowali assembly constituency filed his nomination paper to the Sadar District Magistrate and Shailendra Chandra Nath of the 57-Jubarajnagar assembly constituency had filed his nomination paper to the Dharmanagar SDM.

The candidates after filing nomination maintained that they would come victorious in the elections.

Earlier CPM state leaders like Pabitra Kar, Shankar Prasad Dutta and others on Friday led a rally in the city to accompany the candidates for filing the nomination papers.

The last date of the submission of the nomination papers for the by-elections to four assembly constituencies is scheduled to be on June 6 and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on June 9. 

After the declaration of the by-elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Left Front, led by the CPI-M was the first political party in the state to declare the candidates on May 30 last for the ensuing election.

Tripura will go for by-elections for 6-Agartala assembly constituency, 8-Town Bordowali assembly constituency, 46-Surma (SC) assembly constituency and 57-Jubarajnagar assembly constituency on June 23 and counting of votes will be held on June 26.
