The Left parties in Tripura have extended their support to the “Bharat Bandh” called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on September 27 next in protest against contentious three Agri-laws.
The opposition party, CPM on Tuesday organized a mass convention at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan to express solidarity with the ‘Bharat Bandh’. Opposition leader and CPM Politburo member, Manik Sarkar, party’s state secretary Jitendra Choudhury among other party leaders and workers remained present in the convention.
“The BJP government at the centre has become the enemy of common people including the farmers, labours, students, and all other sections. This government is for the capitalists,” said Manik Sarkar while addressing a gathering in the convention.
Sarkar also said the farm laws were passed to help the capitalists and not for the welfare of the farmers.
“This farm bills shall immensely benefit foreign and domestic corporate houses to reap super-profits by imposing miseries both on the farmers and the people, Sarkar opined.
Continuing his tirade against the Central Government, he said, “The Narendra Modi government continues to remain stubborn and is refusing to engage with the struggling kisans through talks to end the agitation,” adding to this Sarkar said, “The government is trying to fool the farmers in the name of farm bills for the benefits of corporate houses.”
The Opposition leader urged people to extend full support and solidarity to the call of ‘Bharat Bandh’ for the interests of the farmers across the nation.
Addressing the convention, CPM state secretary Jitendra Choudhury came down heavily on the BJP government at the centre and said, “At a time when the COVID pandemic was raging through the entire nation and the farmers were reeling under acute crisis, the government at the centre instead of meeting the demands of the farmers had decided to hand over the farmers’ agricultural lands with the corporate houses.”
“At a time when the farmers across the nation had gathered across the border at Delhi to press for their demand of repealing the farm bills, the government had made several attempts to dismiss it but then it failed and the farmers’ protest became stronger,” he said.
Choudhury also called upon for united support to the farmers’ call for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on September 27 next.
Meanwhile, different wings of the Left party in Tripura including the AIDYO on Tuesday organized series of programmes in support of the Bharat Bandh on September 27 and raised the demand to repel the three Farm Laws.
