Several people were injured in a ‘bee attack’ at Prakriti Bhavan after a beehive was disturbed by a curious kite on Wednesday morning.

It was around 9.30 am. The staff posted at the Prakriti Bhavan just started arriving while several gardeners were working in the garden. Suddenly, some of them had come under attack by a swarm of angry and stinging bees.

It all happened after a kite saw the beehive and got interested in it. He swooped down and pokes the hive ‘in search of honey’. That made the bees very angry. Immediately they swarmed out to, ostensibly, teach the predator a good lesson. The kite did not waste time and took to wings and in no time flew high above and went of the bees’ reach. But the humans were around, and the bees vented out their anger on them.

As per initial reports, five persons were injured in the bee attack. One among them is now undergoing treatment at GBP hospital.

The incident triggered panic among the employees and others in the Prakriti Bhavan, Hatipara for some time. The situation turned normal after the swarm of bees left the spot.
