Polling in Kerala has recorded 16 percent voter turnout in the first two hours. Polling is continuing smoothly across all 140 constituencies in the state, with only minor issues reported from a few isolated locations.
Long queues were seen at many polling booths. Senior leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan, and BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, cast their votes in the early hours.
Tight security arrangements are in place at all 30,495 polling booths across the state. A total of 2,040 booths have been identified as sensitive, where additional security measures have been implemented.
