Kailashahar is set to host its first-ever Durga Puja Carnival, with Minister Tinku Roy chairing a preparatory meeting in Unakoti. Officials, clubs and Puja committees discussed arrangements, security, coordination and community participation to ensure a smooth and vibrant celebration.
The Unakoti district administration is preparing to organise the first-ever Durga Puja Carnival in Kailashahar this year, with an aim to make the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations more vibrant, organised and inclusive. The proposed carnival is intended to highlight the joy, cultural traditions and spirit of social harmony associated with the festival.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy chaired an important preparatory meeting at the Unakoti District Magistrate’s office on Saturday to review arrangements for the upcoming event. Senior district officials, representatives of local clubs and members of various Durga Puja committees attended the meeting and discussed several aspects related to the successful organisation of the carnival.
The initiative is being planned against the backdrop of the festive atmosphere of Durga Puja, with the administration seeking to provide a common platform for communities, clubs and Puja organisers to participate in the celebrations. The carnival is expected to add a new dimension to the traditional festivities in Kailashahar while showcasing the cultural richness and collective spirit of the region.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the overall preparation and management of the carnival. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring that the event is conducted in a smooth, safe and well-coordinated manner. Arrangements for handling crowds, maintaining public safety and managing different aspects of the programme were among the key issues discussed.
Minister Tinku Roy stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned departments, local organisations and Puja committees. He said that proper planning and cooperation among stakeholders would be essential for ensuring the successful conduct of the first carnival.
According to the minister, the celebration is also intended to strengthen social harmony and present Durga Puja as a shared cultural expression. The involvement of local clubs and Puja committees is expected to play an important role in bringing community participation to the forefront of the event.
The meeting also reviewed security arrangements and logistical requirements in view of the expected gathering during the carnival. Officials discussed the responsibilities of different line departments and the need for effective coordination so that the event can be managed efficiently.
District Magistrate Megha Jain, along with senior officials from various line departments, was present at the preparatory meeting. Representatives of clubs and Puja committees also participated in the discussions and shared their views regarding preparations for the carnival.

The proposed first-ever Durga Puja Carnival in Kailashahar is expected to bring together different Puja committees and community organisations as part of a coordinated festive programme.
