Catch Them Young: Junior YMA Football Tournament Begins at Behliangchhip, Jampui Hill
The much-awaited annual Junior YMA Football Tournament kicked off today at the Behliangchhip playground in Jampui Hill amid great fanfare. This year’s edition is being held under the banner of the Zosanglura Memorial Trophy, in honour of Shri Zosanglura, the founding president of Tripura Group YMA.
Organised by the Sports Sub-committee of Tripura Group YMA, the tournament has drawn participation from children across ten villages of Jampui Hill. To ensure inclusivity and fair competition, participants have been divided into three categories based on age: Team I (senior group), Team II (intermediate group), and Team III (junior group).

The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with parents, youth, and football enthusiasts thronging the place to cheer on the young players, creating a lively and spirited atmosphere.
Speaking on the objective of the tournament, Shri Laltlinpuia Pachuau, Secretary of the Sports Sub-committee, said the initiative aims to identify sporting talent at an early age, promote sports as a means of mental well-being, and steer children away from substance abuse. He further added that such events help prepare young participants for future academic and career pursuits.

The tournament will continue for five days, from March 24 to March 28, 2026, bringing renewed vibrancy to the hill with the energetic cheers of supporters and budding football talent on display.
