Pop singer and reality television star JoJo Siwa has revealed that she is ready to take matters into her own hands when it comes to marriage — and may even propose to her partner, Chris Hughes, if he does not do so first.
The 22-year-old entertainer met the 32-year-old British reality TV star earlier this year while filming Celebrity Big Brother. Their on-screen chemistry soon turned into a real-life romance, capturing widespread public attention. Since then, the couple has openly discussed their future, including marriage plans, according to Female First UK.
Chris Hughes recently explained that he has no interest in proposing during the Christmas season, a time he feels is overused for engagements. Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, he said that holiday proposals often feel predictable and lack personal meaning. He prefers the idea of a proposal happening unexpectedly, rather than following a seasonal trend seen repeatedly on social media.
JoJo, however, did not shy away from expressing her feelings. She jokingly shared that when Chris asked her what she wanted for Christmas, she replied with “a ring,” later clarifying she meant a smart doorbell — though the conversation soon turned serious. The singer teased the idea of flipping tradition by proposing herself.
Chris made it clear that he would feel uncomfortable being proposed to, explaining that he prefers traditional dynamics in that regard. Despite this, JoJo has set a playful yet firm boundary. She stated that she would give Chris seven years to decide before she takes the initiative herself.
The singer even marked a specific date — May 27, 2032 — declaring she would propose without hesitation if no engagement happens by then. Chris responded that seven years is more than enough time to decide on marriage, implying that such a scenario may never occur.

Although the couple was believed to have started dating in June, JoJo later confirmed that their relationship actually began secretly a month earlier, keeping fans guessing until they were ready to go public.
