Jitendra Choudhury , CPM secretary and former minister of the Left Front government came down heavily on the  ruling BJP-led coalition government accusing it of indulging in ‘massive corruptions’ in various government departments. He said, “a radar-less government is currently functioning in the state.”

Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening Choudhury alleged, “Starting from the power department to the rural development, health and education departments are involved in massive corruption in the state.”

“Under the leadership of a corrupt officer, the TSECL is functioning in the state. The employees, staff of the department including the consumers are distressed due to this corrupt officer,” adding to this Choudhury said, “One can easily understand that as to why despite reports of corruptions , this corrupt officer is not being removed.”

He continued slamming the government and alleged that government had violated the norms of centrally sponsored MGNREGA scheme by not conducting social audits under the RD department.

“Even the Central portal of the REGA reported that a major portion of the works in the state were not audited, whereas the state government has been providing different pictures,” adding to this Choudhury alleged, “According to the primary report of the social audit director of the state’s R D Department, a discrepancy of Rs. 183 crore was found, whereas government had been paying no attention to this.”

He alleged, “A major section of the BJP party insiders are taking handsome amount from the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Abhash Yojna (PMAY) scheme. The beneficiaries are being asked to pay amount starting from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 40,000 in order to get houses under the scheme and these have been going viral on social media almost every day from different parts of the state.”

“We demand the government to allow their government-aided IT cell at the secretariat to get access to those video clips from social media and trace the culprits or the middle-men who are taking money in the name of PMAY scheme to deprive the beneficiaries,” he said.

CPI-M leader, also the former minister also took on the government over paddy procurement and alleged, “The middle-men are intervening between the farmers and government in the procurement centers. Farmers are unable to sell theirs paddy directly to the government as the BJP party cadres as middle-men are actively selling the paddy to government in the name of the farmers.”

“Government had failed to meet the crisis of the farmers across the state who faced acute loss during the unseasonal rainfall.  Despite the government’s circular seeking reports of farmers’ loss, as of now not a single farmer from any parts of the state received compensation from the government,” Choudhury alleged.

He said, “The BJP government at the centre and state were not sincere to the farmers despite they lectured of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. The central government failed to meet the promises made to the farmers other than abolishing the three farm bills as demanded by the farmers of this country.”

Choudhury said the CPI-M party will launch ‘dharnas’ in near future in different blocks and sub-division against the corrupt practices of the BJP government.
