Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu dev Varma who is also power minister of the state said the government is working to provide electricity connection to every house in the state and it will continue to do so in the future as well. Dev Varma was inaugurating Vidyut Mahotsav at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala yesterday as part of AzadiKaAmrit Mahotsavprogramme.
He also said that the demand for electricity in Tripura has increased more than before. The largest amount of money has been spent on the development of power systems in the state. He also said that electricity is the key to the future development of our state. Therefore, the state’s electrical system is being developed in accordance with the rules through various agencies. Special emphasis has also been laid on increasing power generation. So now more electricity is being produced in this state than before. He also said that electricity is very necessary in daily life and power outages affect our way of life. So our job is to take the power system to a more modern level. That’s why the government is developing electricity services in various projects in the state as well as working to deliver this service to people’s doors. He said remote villages in Gondatwisa sub-division have also now been covered by electricity service. Villages where no one thought electricity would ever reach, our government has provided electricity to those villages under the Saubhaghya yojana.
At the Programme, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the organizersfor organising VidyutMahotsav programme and said that in the coming days, this government will work towards the bright future of bright Tripura and bright future of India. West Tripura ZillaParishad President Antara Sarkar (Deb), West Tripura District District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, NEEPCO Deputy General Manager Prantik Bordoloi spoke at the event organized jointly by Power Grid and TSECL. Debashis Sarkar, Managing Director, TSECL delivered the welcome address at the Programme. RanjanDebbarma, General Manager of TSECL delivered the vote of thanks. Apart from them, NEEPCO Chief General Manager DebjaniDey and Tripura Sports Council Secretary Amit Rakshit were also present at the programme.
Cultural programmes were also organized at the ‘Vidyut Mahotsav’. Apart from this, awareness plays and documentaries about electricity were shown in the programme. 4 beneficiaries of free electricity connection under Saubhaghya yojana also participated at the programme.
