Tripura government will send a proposal to the central government for setting up Innovation Hub in every district, said Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma after inaugurating the state’s first Innovation Hub and Hydroponic Gallery at Sukanta Academy on Saturday.
Dev Varma in his speech emphasized on proper utilization of the new facility.
“It should not be used only for exhibition purpose; the authority has to take care of it so that students can do something innovative”, he said.
“We took an innovative idea at Rabindranath Tagore College from the Bio Technology Council. An initiative has been taken to bring an entire village under Mushroom cultivation on banana leaves, innovated by the students,” he said in the inaugural ceremony.
He encouraged the students to create something new by using the bamboo of the state’s soil.
Meanwhile, earlier there were 36 innovation hubs in the whole country. The new innovation hub in Agartala is the 38th innovation hub.
Director of National Council of Science Museum Indraneel Sanyal, secretary of Science, Technology and Environment department- Apurba Roy, member deputy secretary of Tripura State Council for Science and technology- B. Chakraborty and Director of Higher Education N.C. Sharma were present in the programme.
