Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India’s GDP growth of 7.7 per cent in the first six months of the current fiscal is a reflection of the country’s strengthening economy and the transformative reforms carried out in the last 10 years.

Addressing the ‘Infinity Forum 2.0’ conference at the GIFT City in Gandhinagar today, through video conferencing, Mr Modi said his government wants to turn the Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City into a global nerve centre of the new age global financial and technology services. He said, today, the entire world has pinned its hopes on India, and this did not happen just on its own. 

This is a reflection of India’s strengthening economy and also the transformative reforms carried out in the last 10 years,” Mr Modi said in his inaugural address. Prime Minister said India is one of the fastest growing fintech markets in the world today and the GIFT International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) is emerging as its centre. He called upon the experts of financial technology to work together to solve the serious issues of the world with innovative ideas. 

The Prime Minister said, today India with the help of youth talent has become the global capacity centre for the world. Underlining the growth in different sectors of the country in last 10 years, Prime Minister said that today most diverse trade facilities are available in the country. He said that with strong IT talent and data protection laws, the finance sector is getting secure digital connectivity. Talking about the capacity of the youth of the country, he said that country has talent advantage which is creating unparalled opportunities. Mentioning the growth in Civil Aviation sector in particular, Prime Minister said that today four lakh passengers are flying daily in the country and the number of airports have doubled in last 10 years. He also underlined the growing future of Aviation sector and said that 1000 aircrafts are going to be purchased in the coming years.

On the occasion, Mr Modi congratulated the people of Gujarat over inclusion of the state’s traditional Garba dance in the UNESCO’s ‘Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity’.
