Indian shooters are set to begin their campaign at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup with mixed team events in 10m air rifle and 10m air pistol competitions at Granada in Spain today.
In the pistol event, Palak Gulia will pair with Mukesh Nelavalli, while Sainyam will team up with Ujjawal Malik. They will face tough competition from top international shooters, especially strong teams from China, including world champions Hu Kai and Yao Qianxun and Olympic gold medallist Xie Yu with Shen Yiyao.
In the 10m air rifle event, India will field two teams: Sonam Maskar with Gajanan Khandagale, and Shruti with Arshdeep Singh. They will compete against top-ranked shooters, including world No. 1 Sheng Lihao and Wang Zifei of China, along with other strong teams from Norway, Germany, and Hungary.
India has selected shooters ranked 4th to 6th nationally, giving younger athletes a chance to prove themselves.
With the World Championships later this year offering qualification spots for the 2028 Olympics, this event is important for testing form and building experience ahead of major competitions like the Asian Games.
