Chopra, the 2022 Diamond League champion and two-time Olympic medallist, finished second in both 2023 and 2024. He qualified for this year’s final in fourth place after taking part in two qualifying events, placing second in Doha with a season-best 90.23m and winning in Paris with 88.16 m.

The 27-year-old has competed in six events this season, winning four. His most recent outing was a victory at the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5 with a throw of 86.18m. Also in the final are Andrian Mardare, Peters, Keshorn Walcott, Weber, Julius Yego, and the Swiss entry Simon Wieland.
