Indian culture and tradition have kept us tied to one string.Tripura and Manipur have shared a long matrimonial relation, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at the closing ceremony of Puthiba Lai Haraoba Festival at Abhoynagar.The Chief Minister was received in the programme in Manipuri tradition. State’s first Manipuri calendar was unveiled by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries in the programme. Faculty member of Manipur Cultural University Mutum Manitan was felicitated for his contribution. The programme was then followed by Manipuri folk dance.
The Chief Minister said, a friendly relation is forming among the Chief Ministers of North-eastern states with the initiative of the Prime Minister which was lacking in the previous days. As a result, it was possible to solve problems quickly among ourselves which is benefitting the people of the region.Tripura has had good relations with Manipur since royal days. Northeast reflects unity in diversity that includes diversity in language, food, attire etc. Northeast India has found a new direction of development because of the Prime Minister’s earnest efforts. The newly started train from Agartala to Jiribam, Manipur will work as a bridge in forging further cultural exchange between the two states.
Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia also spoke about the ageold friendly relationship between Manipur and Tripura. Overall development of the North-eastern region has escalated under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Other dignitaries present in the closing ceremony were Mayor of Agartala Municipal Council Dipak Majumdar, MLA Rampada Jamatia, Chairman of Khadi & Village Industries Rajib Bhattacharjee, Councilor Hiralal Debnath, President of Puthiba Lai-Haraoba Committee Niranjan Dutta, and Secretary Dipak Kumar Sinha.
