Indian Boxers Sweep Women’s Finals, Win Eight Golds at World Boxing Cup

In the World Boxing Cup final, Indian Women boxers Jaismine Lamboria, Nikhat Zareen, Arundhati Choudhary, Preeti Pawar, Minakshi Hooda and Nupur Sheoran delivered a golden sweep in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh today, marking a historic achievement for the country. 
 
 
Jaismine Lamboria punched her way to the women’s 57 kg GOLD medal beating Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi in the final 4-1. Nikhat Zareen clinched gold in the 51 kg category  beating Xuan Yi Guo of Chinese Taipei 5-0. 
 
 
Earlier, in the 70-kilogram category, Arundhati Choudhary defeated Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova with a clean 5-0 verdict in the final. Preeti Pawar also delivered clean sweep in the 54-kilogram event, beating Italy’s Sirine Charaabi 5-0. The gold rush continued for India as in the 48-kilogram division, Minakshi Hooda put up a commanding performance to beat Uzbekistan’s Fozilova Farzona, again with a flawless 5-0 scoreline. Nupur Sheoran struck the fourth gold with victory in the 80-plus-kilogram category. She overcame Uzbekistan’s Oltinoy Sotimboeva. 
 
 
In Men’s section, Sachin Siwach and Hitesh Gulia have clinched gold medals in their categories.  Sachin beat Paris Olympics silver medallist Munarbek Seitbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in the men’s 60 kg final to win GOLD. Hitesh bagged Gold in the men’s 70 kg final against Mursal Nurbek of Kazakhstan.
 
 
Indian men boxers secured four silvers also. In the 80-kilogram final, Ankush Panghal was overpowered by England’s Oladimeji Shittu. In the 65-kilogram division, Abhinash Jamwal lost his well fought bout to Japan’s Shion Nishiyama. In the 55-kilogram category, Pawan Bartwal put up a strong challenge before going down to Uzbekistan’s Samandar Olimov in the final. And in the 50-kilogram category, after three intense rounds of boxing, Jadumani Singh lost to to Uzbekistan’s Asilbek Jalilov.
