The Indian women’s cricket team scripted history when they registered one of the biggest victories in their Test history against England at Lord’s yesterday.
India handed a massive defeat to the hosts by 270 runs in the first ever women’s test at Lord’s yesterday to clinch the one-off test series. Defending a daunting target of 457, India bowled out England at 186 on the final day. The win extended India’s impressive record in red-ball cricket, marking their seventh victory in their last 11 Tests, while preserving their unbeaten record in women’s Tests in England.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has congratulated Indian Women’s Cricket Team on becoming the first-ever women’s team to win a Test match at Lord’s.
In a social media post, Mr Mandaviya said, a commanding 270-run victory over England makes this achievement even more special. Congratulatory messages poured in for the Indian women’s team, with Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Kiren Rijiju, and Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the Board of Control for Cricket in India in extending their wishes to the team.
