At the onset of the electoral process for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, Milan Padmura Singh, an independent candidate hailing from Shantirbazar subdivision in South Tripura district, submitted his nomination papers.

The District Election Officer (DEO) and District Magistrate (DM) of West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, received Singh’s nomination on Wednesday, signalling the commencement of the electoral race.

DM Kumar confirmed that the filing of nomination papers for the West Parliamentary Lok Sabha elections will continue until March 27. The scrutiny of these nominations is slated to take place until March 28, with candidates having the opportunity to withdraw their candidature until March 30.

Meanwhile, preparations for the East Tripura constituency are also underway. A notification for nominations will be issued on March 28, allowing candidates to submit their papers until April 4. The scrutiny of nomination papers for the East Tripura constituency is scheduled for April 8.

The West Tripura constituency is slated for Phase 1 elections on April 19, with Phase 2 elections for the East constituency following on April 26. Vote counting is set for June 4.
