IFFI 2025 set for colourful outdoor opening on Nov 20 in Goa

IFFI 2025 will open with an outdoor ceremony and a colourful cultural parade celebrating India’s traditions. It is going to be held in Panaji between 20-28th November. The festival will bring together guests and filmmakers from more than 80 countries and 270 PLUS films from India and abroad. Brazilian film The Blue Trail will start the event, while Japan will be the country of focus along with a few other nations, including Spain and Australia. The festival will honour legendary film artists – Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Bhanumati, Bhuwan, Ritwik and long-time contributors Rajnikanth and Balakrishna for completing 50 years in Indian Cinema. In a press conference on the 56th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2025,  MoS for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan said, it will also feature the WAVES Film Bazaar, and special platforms to support young creators, women directors, and new experiments in AI-driven filmmaking.
 
Goa’s Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant was also present on this occasion and informed that IFFI 2025 will be held across five main venues in Goa. Celebrating its 56th edition, the festival’s theme is the Convergence of Creativity and Technology. Two Goan films- Claudia and  Pilot, selected from 17 entries – will be screened. The festival will open with the IFFI Float Parade on 20 November, featuring Goan cultural groups. Free transport for delegates, public engagement stalls, and various cultural activities are planned throughout the event.
