The department of Physics of the ICFAI University Tripura has hosted the ‘PLASMA EXHIBITION – An interactive peek into the fascinating world of plasma’ as a part of scientific outreach activity of the Institute of Plasma Research, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat from June 5-8. The main attraction of the exhibition is Live Plasma Exhibition, Training, Popular Talk, Quiz and Gaming which will attract the school students and stimulate their young minds.
The participants were from the students of class-VIII to XII from various schools and also the college students. The programme was inaugurated by N. C. Sharma, Director of Higher Education, along with Dr. A V Ravi Kumar Scientist, Institute for Plasma Research, Gujrat, Swapan Majumder, Secretary, Indian Association of Physics Teachers. Welcome speech was given by Dr. A Ranganath, Registrar of the University.
Chief Guest N. C. Sharma has praised ICFAI University Tripura for organizing such event and he also expressed his cordial thanks to ICFAI for providing unique special education programme in the state of Tripura. The significance of the Plasma in physics is the study of a state of matter comprising charged particles. Plasmas are usually created by heating a gas until the electrons become detached from their parent atom or molecule. This so-called ionization can also be achieved using high-power laser light or microwaves. During the exhibition, several live demonstrations are scheduled to be shown before the students.
The Whole program is coordinated by Dr. Priyangshu Rana Borthakur, Dean of Faculty of Science & Technology and Dr. Govinda Pradhan, Asst. Professor of department of Physics of the University.
On the same day the Faculty of Education of the University has celebrated the World Environment day in a befitting manner. This year the theme of the environment day is Ecosystem Restoration. Dr. Bishu karmakar, Member Secretary of Tripura State Pollution Control Board was the Chief Guest of the program and Dr. Chandrani Debbarma of Swami Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya was the Special Guest. Other dignitaries from the University were Dr. Subhasish Chatterjee, Academic Dean, Dr. Prem Shankar Srivastava, Principal of Faculty of Education and Dr. Swarnali Nath Choudhury, the head of Chemistry Department of the University.
