State government is contemplating to introduce House Boat cruises like that of Kerala Backwater in Dumboor lake soon. The proposed House Boats would be available from Narkelkunja which had of late become a tourist hotspot in the state.
Tripura Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, in an attempt to give a boost to the Tripura tourism the House Boats proposals were put in the pipeline. Only on Sunday on the occasion of Independence Day celebration two new Jet Ski water scooters were introduced as well as a boat race competition was held to mark Amrit Ka Mahotsav in Dumboor.
“Dumboor Lake is one of the biggest water bodies in the North East region which enriched the Narkelkunja as a tourist spot. A plan is on the pipeline to introduce houseboat facility, adventure activities, more log huts as well as a helipad at Narkelkunja to attract more tourists”, the Tourism minister told the event, said the minister while addressing an event at Narkelkunja on the occasion of Independence Day.
He said many of the works couldn’t be done following the Covid pandemic over the past one and half years.
Addressing the people, he also said that the paragliding facility would soon be started in Jampui Hills.
“The tourist visiting Jampui Hills would soon be welcomed with paragliding facility while the work for the first ropeway of the state was already going on in Udaipur connecting Matabari with the railway station”, he said, adding that the second ropeway of the state would be set up in Narkelkunja.
He appealed to the local people to maintain a positive attitude with the principle of Athithi Devo Bhavo to make Narkelkunja the best tourist spot as well as to see economic growth.
The Tourism minister said that apart from introducing new facilities, the government was also focused on improving the road connectivity– an amount of Rs. 52 crore had already been sanctioned for works of Jatanbari to Mandirghat road. Besides, an initiative was taken to connect Gandacherra with Narkelkunja, he said.
According to the Tourism minister, his department would take all possible steps to transform Narkelkunja into the North East’s best tourist spot.
On Sunday, two more water scooters were introduced for the convenience of the tourists. Now, the number of water scooters in Narkelkunja has increased to three. The Tourism minister announced that some new boats would be brought to Narkelkunja so that tourists visiting the place get a wonderful experience.
