In Kerala, authorities have declared a holiday in educational institutions in eight districts today due to continued heavy rains in the state. The districts where the holiday has been declared are Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Alappuzha, and Kottayam. The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including tuition centres, Anganwadis, and professional colleges. District collectors have clarified that there will be no changes to the previously scheduled exams.
As heavy rains continue to lash across Kerala, widespread damage is being reported mainly in North and Central Kerala. The high alert continues in hilly and riverside regions. Relief camps are opened in affected districts. Night travel to the hilly regions is prohibited. Tourist spots in Palakkad and Idukki districts are closed. 9 teams of NDRF are in the state. Army, Indo-Tibetan Force and CRPF teams are also prepared for any exigencies in the State. As the sea remains rough, fishing is banned in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts.

An orange alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. A yellow alert has been issued for the Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts for today.
