Information and Cultural Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the state cabinet in a meeting in an attempt to give a booster to the health care service of the state has decided to increase the General Duty Medical Officer Cadre from 1480 to 2170. The newly added 690 posts are divided into two categories- Specialist and Super-specialist. In case of recruitment of Specialists, the qualification is MD, MS or DNB while for Super-specialist, the qualification is DM or MCH.
Besides, the minister said, a six member Health Selection Committee under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary to Health department and MD NHM has been formed for direct recruitments in technical posts (Group-B,C and D).
In another decision, the cabinet approved amendment of Recruitment Rules for Dental Technicians. Now, the Higher Secondary (Science) passed candidates having Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects can apply.
The cabinet has also approved recruitment in 28 posts. The posts include eight posts of Food Safety Officers under the Health department and 18 posts of Junior Computer Assistants under the Election Department.
The eight Food Safety Officers was selected by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPCS) some time ago but due to procedural delay their recruitments were held up, said Chowdhury in a press conference. They are expected to be appointed by next week only.
The recruitment of the Junior Computer Assistants -18 posts- will be done directly for the youths with Madhyamik pass certificate and one year Diploma in Computer and experience in data entry works (Bengali and English).
In the meantime, the Finance department has already given a go ahead for recruitment of 6067 Special Executives on contract basis with Rs 11,000 honorarium per month. The total expenditure thus involved will be Rs 82 crore. The cabinet has also modified the eligibility criteria for the Special Executives allowing the Madhyamik passed candidates to apply through respective police stations.
The minister informed the media that the cabinet has also decided engineers’ recruitment in various departments including PWD through Combined Competitive Examination of TPSC. Earlier, the government used to recruit engineers as per Tripura Engineering Service.
The cabinet also decided that nutritious foods would be provided to the pregnant and lactating mothers (6 months to 3 years) under 24 ICDS projects. The Social Welfare and Social Education department would implement the pilot project for three months.
