In Gujarat, the state-level celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day was held at Sharmishtha Lake in Vadnagar, the hometown of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event was led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Addressing the Yoga programme in Vadnagar, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave a clarion call for obesity free Gujarat and urged people to adopt Yoga in their daily lives.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the Yoga Day Programme at Prahlad Nagar in Ahmedabad today.
The state government, in coordination with the State Yoga Board and the Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs Department, organised mass yoga sessions at more than 60,000 locations, targeting over 1.5 crore participants. The state also aimed to set a new Guinness World Record in Bhujangasana at the Vadnagar event.
Meanwhile, Union Jal Shakti Minister and BJP State President CR Patil attended the Yog Programme in Vadodara. Yoga Day was also celebrated at the prominent iconic sites of the state such as UNESCO World Heritage sites Dholavira in Kutch and Ran ki Vav in Patan. The Yoga day was also celebrated by BSF at Nadabet near India Pakistan border in Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
