In the second match of the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League cricket, Gujarat Giants defeated UP Warriorz by 10 runs in Navi Mumbai tonight.
 
 
Put in to bat first, Gujarat Giants posted 207 for four in 20 overs at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, with Ashleigh Gardner scoring 65 and Anushka Sharma contributing 44 runs. For UP, Sophie Ecclestone picked up a two-wicket haul.
 
 
In reply, UP Warriorz chased the target on the final ball of the match, finishing at 197 for eight in 20 overs. Phoebe Litchfield scored an impressive 78 in just 40 balls. But could not lead to victory.
 
 
The third match of the series, Mumbai Indians (RCB) will take on Delhi Capitals at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The match will begin at 7:30 PM today.
 
 
The Women’s Premier League this season is being played across two venues – the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai and the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. After the Navi Mumbai leg, the tournament will move to Vadodara, where the remaining 11 matches, including the playoffs, will be held.
