Under the banner of All Tripura Guest Lecturers Association, Tripura state unit  the guest lecturers of different degree colleges of the state on Tuesday demanded regularisation of their jobs.The guest lecturers while approaching the director of higher education to press for their demands told the media that they were being deprived of regularisation of their services as the government was not taking the initiative of filling up the vacant posts of regular guest lecturers. They, however, demanded the government to ensure a better livelihood for the guest lecturers of the state by regularising their service.

 Meanwhile, they also expressed concern over the honorarium being paid to them. They complained that they are also being deprived of the adequate honorarium as the government is not abiding by the UGC guidelines. They said when the UGC has fixed Rs. 1650 as a minimum honorarium for the guest lecturers, the government here is paying them just an amount of Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 for a single class.

However, the distressed guest lecturers on Tuesday gathered in front of the City Center here at Agartala to press for their demand before approaching the director of higher education. They also threatened to go for massive agitation if their demand for job regularisation is not met by the government
