The panchayat has been honoured with the Silver Award in the category “Grassroot Level Initiatives for Deepening/Widening of Service Delivery with Focus on Initiatives by Gram Panchayats or Equivalent Traditional Local Bodies” under the National Awards for e-Governance Scheme 2024–25. This recognition celebrates innovative, citizen-centric digital solutions implemented at the grassroots level to improve transparency, service delivery, and governance efficiency.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), functioning under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoPPGP), announced the winners earlier this month. West Majlishpur is one of only four Gram Panchayats across the country to be selected for this prestigious honour.

The award will be formally presented during the National Conference on e-Governance, scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam on June 9–10, 2025. As part of the recognition, the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat will receive a medal of honour, an official certificate, and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh to support and encourage further innovation in e-governance at the rural level.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha congratulated the people and officials of the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat, praising their commitment to modern, inclusive, and transparent administration. In a statement posted on social media, he remarked that this award is a testament to Tripura’s growing leadership in adopting digital governance models at the grassroots.

Dr. Saha also recalled that Tripura had already set a national benchmark last year by bagging seven national awards across different categories for excellence in Panchayati Raj, underlining the state’s continuous strides toward effective and citizen-friendly governance.

The recognition of West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat marks a proud moment for Tripura and sets an inspiring example for other local bodies across the nation striving to embrace technology and innovation in public service delivery, said an officer related to the department.

Earlier, Ganganagar Block in the Dhalai district gad been conferred the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration as the Best Aspirational Block of the year 2025.

The recognition came under the Government of India’s flagship Aspirational Districts Programme spearheaded by NITI Aayog, which aims to uplift socio-economic conditions in the country’s most underdeveloped regions through focused governance and innovative public service delivery.

A standout factor in Ganganagar’s success was the exemplary contribution of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dhalai, which achieved 100% coverage of Soil Health Cards (SHC)—a key performance indicator (KPI) under the programme. This milestone played a crucial role in positioning Ganganagar at the top of the national rankings.

In a special felicitation ceremony held on Wednesday, the District Magistrate and Collector of Dhalai presented Certificates of Appreciation to KVK Dhalai and other key stakeholders, acknowledging their tireless efforts and collaborative spirit that led to this national recognition.

“This award is not just a mark of achievement but a reflection of what determined teamwork and grassroots innovation can accomplish,” said the District Magistrate during the event.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm across the state, as the achievement underscores Tripura’s growing prominence in national development indices and sets a benchmark for other aspirational blocks in the region.

The award is a testament to the district’s commitment to inclusive growth, sustainable agriculture, and effective implementation of central schemes, proving that focused efforts in rural development can yield truly transformative results.
