Union MoS for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad said Union Government will ensure inclusion of the Tripura Gramin Bank in Credit Guarantee Trust. Dr Karad after his arrival in the state held a high level meeting with the State Level Bank Committee (SLBC) at Prajna Bhavan in Agartala on Monday.
Dr Karad said, “Tripura Gramin Bank is doing excellent works. However, the Bank is not a member of the Credit Guarantee Trust. A proposal for the inclusion in the Trust was sent to the Finance Department by the Bank – and we will initiate actions to ensure speedy inclusion of TGB in the Credit Guarantee Trust”.
Referring to the discussions with SLBC officials, Dr Karad directed the banks to play a strong role in empowering poor people as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The CD ratio in Tripura is only 54 pc which implies deposit is good but loan disbursement is less. I have discussed the issues related to the increase the CD ratio and directed the Bank Officials to take steps to disburse more loans as well as held discussion on ways to ensure more business by the loan receiving beneficiaries”, the Minister told media.
Besides, he also advised the bank officials to ensure a target of bringing cent percent under Jan Dhan Account by September 22, 2022.
Dr Karad appreciated activities pertaining to Kishan Credit Cards and other such Central schemes. He emphasized more help for the SHGs.
The MoS for Finance also inaugurated an ‘Ultra Small Branch of Tripura Gramin bank at Hapania today. He hailed the effort of the TGB in implementing various Central schemes like Atal Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana etc.
