The state government is working on priority basis for an overall growth of the Janajati people and development of culture, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Deb said this after inaugurating two-day traditional Hojagiri festival at Karbook of Gomati district on Friday night.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Deb said Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the state’s rich culture by conferring the prestigious  Padma Shri upon renowned Hojagiri artist Satyaram Reang.

Besides, the displaced Bru people of Mizoram got permanent rehabilitation in Tripura following sincere efforts of the Prime Minister.

He also mentioned that the Rs. 1300-crore package announced for the Janajati people would play an important role in the socio-economic and cultural development of the indigenous section.

Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister also spoke on various welfare activities initiated by his government.

The Hojagiri Festival jointly organized by the state government and TTAADC has been inaugurated at Panjiham school ground followed by a colourful programme.

Minister of Janajati Welfare- Mevar Kumar Jamatia, MLA Pramod Reang, MLA Prem Kumar Reang, general secretary of Bru Socio Cultural Organization’s central committee- Lalbahadur Reang and other local elected representatives and officials were also present in the programme.
