Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government has prioritized people, the economy, and innovation alongside infrastructure and industries in terms of investment. Speaking at a post-budget webinar on employment, Modi said the vision of investing in people rests on three pillars: education, skills, and healthcare. He said India’s education system is undergoing a significant transformation after several decades.

The Prime Minister said the telemedicine facility is being expanded to all Primary Health Centres. He said, that through day-care cancer centres and digital healthcare infrastructure, the government wants to take quality healthcare to the last mile. He said many decisions have been made in this budget to promote domestic and international tourism.

Mr Modi said India will establish a National Large Language Model to develop AI capabilities. He said, that in this direction, the private sector also needs to be one step ahead of the world. Mr Modi said the government has taken several steps in this budget to promote startups. Mr Modi said a corpus fund of one lakh crore rupees has been set up to promote research and innovation. He said this will increase investment in emerging sectors with a deep-tech fund of funds.

Underlining the significance of the Gyan Bharatam Mission in preserving India’s rich manuscript heritage, Mr Modi announced that over one crore of manuscripts will be digitized under this mission, leading to the creation of a National Digital Repository. He said this repository will enable scholars and researchers worldwide to access India’s historical and traditional knowledge and wisdom.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the establishment of a National Gene Bank to preserve India’s plant genetic resources to ensure genetic resources and food security for future generations. Mr. Modi also announced the initiative to establish a one lakh crore rupees Urban Challenge Fund, focusing on governance, infrastructure, and financial sustainability, while also boosting private investment.
