The state government has announced financial assistance in response to the recent violence at Gandacherra in the Dhalai district  that left hundreds of people homeless and businessless. There were huge tensions and situation remained seriously volatile for the last few days following the one sided violence against the Bengalis.  Minister Tinku Roy and several other senior BJP leaders also faced the wrath of the people when the went to visit the place.

However, on  Tuesday, the District Magistrate Saju Vaheed and Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai of Dhalai district visited Gandacherra to evaluate the latest situation.   They said the situation was turning normal and shops were being opened. The DM said the fire incident of Tuesday morning in the market was due to ‘short circuit’.

According to a government press release, the state government will provide Rs. 6 lakh to Khargram Reang, the father of Parameswar Reang, whose death on the night of July 12 triggered the unrest.

Additionally, the state government has decided to allocate Rs. 1.54 crore to support 165 families affected by the incident. The Dhalai district administration has already begun providing initial assistance of Rs. 25,000 to each affected family. The assessment of total losses, including damage to houses, shops, and other properties, is currently underway. The remaining amount of financial assistance will be disbursed following the completion of the final assessment report.

. On Tuesday, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Dhalai district visited Ganda Twisa to evaluate the latest situation. The district administration reported that conditions are rapidly returning to normal, with local shops and markets functioning as usual.In the meantime, the state government has arranged necessary facilities, including a health camp, for people residing in the relief camp.
