Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu emphasized the pivotal role of youth in combating drug addiction to safeguard the nation’s progress and future. He was speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Jagriti-2025’ inter-college quiz competition held at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan today. The event, focusing on consumer protection, road safety, and drug prevention, was organized by the Food, Public Procurement, Consumer Affairs, and Transport Departments in collaboration with the Higher Education Department.

Governor Nallu stated that India, with the world’s largest youth population, faces dire consequences if the younger generation succumbs to drug addiction. He urged students to actively participate in raising awareness and creating a drug-free society. Highlighting road safety, the Governor advised drivers to adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents, emphasizing those following safety guidelines can save countless lives.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath praised the government’s commitment to building a healthier and better Tripura. He stressed the importance of engaging school and college students in addressing issues like drug abuse and road safety. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated that the Jagruti-2025 initiative aims to promote awareness among students about these critical issues.

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma added that such programs are instrumental in educating buyers, curbing drug addiction, and reducing road accidents. Commerce and Industry Minister Brisketu Debbarma, along with other senior officials, also attended the event.

The quiz competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from six colleges across West Tripura and Khowai districts. The winners were awarded prizes, and helmets were distributed to promote road safety. The event concluded with a strong message of youth-led societal transformation and the collective effort to build a safer, drug-free Tripura.
