Goa CM Releases Commemorative Stamp Honouring Filmmaker K Vaikunth at IFFI 56

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today released a commemorative stamp in honour of legendary cinematographer and filmmaker K Vaikunth at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji, Goa. Addressing the gathering, Mr Sawant said that the K Vaikunth left a mark on Indian cinema even before Goa used to be associated with movies. The Goa Chief Minister called him the man whose camera shaped the visual language of classic Indian cinema. He added that Mr Vaikunth’s unique style captured both grand spectacles and soft, subtle human emotions. 
 
 
During the occasion, Mr Vaikunth’s 1977 documentary – ‘Goa Marches On’ was also screened.  In a career spanning more than 5 decades, K Vaikunth worked on more than 35 feature films along with numerous ads and documentaries. He was behind some of the biggest hits, notably, Mere Apne, Bandhan, Mausam, Raaz and Parichay. Mr Vaikunth passed away on 9th February 2003.
