In the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup final, defending champions Germany reclaimed their eighth title, defeating Spain 3-2 in a shoot-out after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time in Chennai last night.
Germany opened the scoring in the 26th minute by Justus Warweg. Spain equalised in the 33rd minute from Nicolas Mustaros.
In the shoot-out, Pablo Roman and Juan Prado scored for Spain, while Germany’s Benedikt Geyer, Alec von Schwerin and Ben Hasbach found the net to seal the victory.
Earlier yesterday, Hosts India secured the bronze medal with a 4-2 win over Argentina.
Earlier, Belgium edged out the Netherlands 4-3 in a shoot-out to finish fifth in the tournament.
