Even as fuel transportation from other states to Tripura got restored as per the state government official release , according to a TNGCL press statement natural Gas Supply to Industries and CNG stations in the State shall remain suspended for 72 hours starting 6 am on August 8 next owing to shutdown work by the supplier GAIL (India) Ltd.

The shut down was due to purely technical reasosn and replacement of old pipelines by the new ones.

A Anbarasan,Managing Director of TNGCL  in a press statement, , said Gail India Ltd has decided on a planned shutdown from 6 am on August 8 to 6 am on August 11 – total 72 hours – in its Anand Nagar to NEEPCO 12-inch x 15 Km pipeline to replace it with a new pipeline of approx. 300 meters for crossing the Howrah River. As a result, there will be no supply of Gas in the Khayerpur Offtake Point and IGC, NEEPCO Offtake point of TNGCL.

Due to the non-availability of adequate supply and pressure of the gas, CNG supply in Agartala, West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala and Gomati District shall not be available during the shutdown period.

“However, TNGCL shall put all efforts to maintain the PNG supply in Agartala City Network during the shutdown period”, the press statement read.

In the meantime a state government press release said that there were adequate stocks of fuel in Tripura , besides fuel transportation to the state had already begun also. There was no need to worry. The statement released by the ICA referred to some local media reports that due to heavy rains some parts of the National Highway got breached which would in turn affect the fuel supply in the state.

The statement said, not only the stock that the state had at this moment would cater to the demand for 9-10 days but also according to the latest reports the roads had already been made functional.
