Fresh batch of pilgrims leave from Jammu

In Jammu and Kashmir, the 11th batch of 6,639 pilgrims left from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu early this morning for the annual Amarnath Yatra under tight security arrangements.
 
The pilgrims left in a convoy of 275 vehicles, towards the twin base camps in the Kashmir Valley—Baltal and Pahalgam.
 
According to officials, 2,337 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp, while 4,302 pilgrims departed for the Pahalgam base camp.
 
From these camps, the devotees will continue their onward journey to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine.
 
Meanwhile, 18,010 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave at the holy cave yesterday.
 
With this, the total number of pilgrims who have paid obeisance so far this year has reached approximately 1.63 lakh.
