
For the first time in the government general college’s history, two programs were held on November 3, and November 6, as part of SERB-SSR (Scientific Social Responsibility) activities. The programs were called “School Students’ Visit Program” and “Research Facility Training Program on FT-IR Spectrometer, Bruker ALPHA II E,” respectively, and were organized by BBM College with sponsorship from the Government of India’s SERB, DST Project.
In the ‘School students’ visit program’ on Nov 03 2023, 20 students from the ten (10) schools- Shishu Bihar H.S. School, Umakanta Academy (Eng Med) School, Netaji Subhash Vidya Niketan, M.T.B. Girls’ H.S. School, Bodhjung Boys’ H.S. School, M.G.M. Class Xii School, Kamini Kumar Singha Memorial H.S. School, Tripureswari Vidyamandir, Gandhigram, Barjala H.S. School, Henry Derozio Academy along with their guide teachers visited the SERB, DST sponsored Research Laboratory of Bir Bikram Memorial College (Estd. March 2022). Joint Director of Secondary Education. Rakesh Debbarma was present as Guest of Honour in the said program.
“I will never forget the wonderful time I had with the various flowers in our state and their esteemed guide teachers,” stated Dr. Arijit Das, the program coordinator and principal investigator of the SERB, DST Project BBMC.
A Part of SERB-SSR Activity on Nov 06, 2023, BBMC organized ‘One day Research Facility Training Program on FT-IR Spectrometer, Bruker ALPHA II E’ under the SERB-DST Project sponsored by the SERB, DST, Govt. of India. As many as 15 Scholars from NIT Agartala, ICFAI University and Women’s Polytechnic, Agartala participated in this training program.
Director of Higher Education, N.C.Sharma, was present as Chief Guest and Principal of Women’s Polytechnic, Agartala, Dr. Tirtharaj Sen was present as Guest of Honour. Joint-Director of Higher Education, Arun Debbarma, OSD of Secondary Education, Siddhartha Sankar Roy, and OSD, Technical Education, DHE, Biswajit Majumder were also present in the program.
Several researchers in the training program received FT-IR training from Dr. Paresh Debnath, Project Associate of SERB, DST Project. During the feedback session, FT-IR training participants were asked a number of questions by Director of Higher Education, N.C. Sharma. Dr. Ratan Deb, Principal of BBMC, gave a speech to wrap up the two events. Dignitaries presented the trainees with their participation certificates at the end of the session.
