FC Barcelona have extended head coach Hansi Flick’s contract until 2027 after a record-breaking debut season, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup. Flick’s tactical brilliance and leadership have restored Barça’s dominance and earned full backing from the club’s leadership for a long-term project.
FC Barcelona have officially announced a contract extension for head coach Hansi Flick, keeping the German tactician at the helm until June 30, 2027. The announcement follows a sensational debut season in which Flick led the Catalan giants to a domestic treble — La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup — restoring the club’s stature on the European stage.
The contract signing took place on Wednesday at the club’s headquarters in the presence of president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Deco.
Flick’s impact has been nothing short of transformational. Taking charge at the start of the 2024–25 season, he quickly instilled discipline, tactical awareness, and a winning mentality into a youthful Barcelona squad. The results were immediate and emphatic, with the team not only winning silverware but also showcasing an identity rooted in resilience and attacking flair.
“This has been a magical journey so far,” said Laporta. “Hansi has brought belief, intensity, and a winning mentality that has re-energised the club. This renewal is a vote of confidence in his project and in our young team.”
Since his managerial debut with Barcelona on August 18 against Valencia — a dramatic comeback victory — Flick has guided the team to an incredible 43 wins in 54 matches, with a 73% win rate. This ranks him among the best debut-season managers in the club’s history, just behind Luis Enrique’s 83% record.
Notably, Flick’s Barça have shown extraordinary grit, coming from behind to win nine times this season. In finals, his record is flawless — seven wins from seven — including memorable triumphs over arch-rivals Real Madrid in both the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.
Though the Champions League title narrowly eluded the Blaugrana this season, Flick’s domestic dominance has earned him a place among elite company. Only Louis van Gaal, Pep Guardiola, Ernesto Valverde, and Luis Enrique have achieved a league and cup double in their first season at the club.
“Hansi Flick is building something historic here,” said sporting director Deco. “His vision, coupled with our belief in the next generation, gives us every reason to look forward with optimism.”
With the contract extension, FC Barcelona have made a clear statement: the Flick era is just beginning, and the club is committed to long-term success under his leadership.
