The ‘Extensive training programme of Disaster Management for Civil Defense Volunteers’ has been concluded today at BSF 109 Battalion Headquarter under Santirbazar Sub-Division.
A closing ceremony was organized jointly by District Disaster Management Authority, South Tripura and BSF 109 Battalion. The 14-days extensive training programme commenced on April 25. Various disaster response training programmes have been undertaken for the Civil Defence Volunteers, especially on life saving skills and response mechanism.
During the training camp, the participants were made aware about the Civil Defence Act and Disaster Management Act, Causality handling & transportation, First aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Chocking, Fire-fighting, Rescue operation during natural calamities, Flood rescue operation, boat operation cum training and other emergency methods of rescue as well as rescue knots.
Exhibition stalls were also put up showcasing different methods and management techniques, photographs and short videos etc. The main objective of this training programme was to prepare the volunteers and youth to respond during any calamity in their areas. The volunteers were given certificate of two weeks training programme on Disaster Management.
While addressing the closing ceremony South Tripura District Magistrate Saju Vaheed A. said, I am very happy and proud for all the Civil Defense Volunteers for showcasing skills and demonstration confidently. He also thanked IGP, Director of Civil Defense, Director of Fire Service & Emergencies for their support.
Tripura Frontiers IG Sumit Sharan, Director of Fire & Emergency Services A.K. Bhattacharya, and Commandant of BSF 109 Battalion A.K. Tiwari also spoke on the occasion. More than 50 volunteers took part in the training programme of Disaster management from different Sub-Division of South Tripura.
