The Directorate of Secondary Education has announced that Bi-Lingual (English & Bengali) Question Papers will be introduced for all 96 CBSE-affiliated Government Vidyajyoti Schools in the Board Examinations of Academic year 2024 and 2025 to be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
According to a government memo, the decision has been taken to facilitate a more comprehensive and accessible examination process for the students of these 96 Vidyajyoti Schools who are more comfortable with the Bengali language.
The memo has said, the offering Bi-Lingual Question Papers is aimed at creating an environment that encourages students to express their understanding and knowledge more effectively, thereby enhancing their overall performance.
“Furthermore”, it has said, “the system is actively working to streamline the registration processes for schools that opt for the Bengali medium. Once the necessary facilities for registration of Class IX & XI and the List of Candidates (LOC) of Class X & XII are made available in the CBSE website, the Bengali medium option will also be accessible on the relevant portal for the concerned schools”.
The memo has then added: “the use of Bengali as a medium of writing in CBSE board Examination is a temporary provision specially granted to Tripura. The schools need to transition to English Medium CBSE Board Examinations from the year 2026”.
According to the memo , all the students currently enrolled in Class IX, X, XI & XII of 96 CBSE affiliated Vidyajyoti Schools shall continue their teaching-learning process in the medium of instruction followed by their school — Bengali or English.
All classes except the ones mentioned above have to be gradually converted to English
are running in Bengali medium from this academic session (2023-24) with a provision to give Examination in either English or Bengali medium. Besides, from the next academic session (2024-25), the medium of instruction and Examination (both Board and School based) for Classes DC and XI of these schools will be in English medium only.
