Exercising one’s right to vote is one of the most important processes of Democracy. Participation in the voting process is very important, especially for the youth, the elderly and the Divyangjans. The Election Commission wants every voter to take part in the democratic process like voting, stated General Observer of 8-Agartala Legislative Assembly Constituency Dr. Partha Sarathi Mishra appointed by the National Election Commission while participating in the Voter Awareness Program organized at the Matangini Auditorium Hall of Women’s College, Agartala yesterday. This voter awareness program was organized with the students of Women’s College with the initiative of State Election Office.
The program was inaugurated by General Observer of 6-Agartala Legislative Assembly Constituency Dr. Partha Sarathi Mishra. At the beginning, a quiz competition was held on election with the students present in the hall. In the quiz competition, the names of the first Chief Election Commission of the country, the year of establishment of the Election Commission, VVPAT, toll free number, date of upcoming bye-elections in four constituencies in the state, the name of the first woman Speaker of Lok Sabha etc. came up. Dr. Partha Sarathi Mishra while speaking on the occasion, he appealed to all students to come forward to vote spontaneously and for casting their own vote. He also said, one should not vote in pressure by anyone. The Election Commission has paid special attention to new voters and old voters. He urged everyone to cast their votes by themselves and also ask their family members to do so as well. At the end of the program, the winners of the quiz competition were awarded. Secretary of Teacher’s Council of Women’s College Sharbani Nag and others were present in the program.
On the same day, a similar program on voter awareness was organized in the auditorium hall of the science block of MBB College in the capital. The chief guest at the event was Election General Observer of 6-Agartala Legislative Assembly Constituency Dr. Partha Sarathi Mishra. Associate Professor of the college Arpita Acharya and students of the college and officials of State Election Office were present during the program. Dr. Partha Sarathi Mishra said, students are the future of the future. Therefore, they need to be aware of the election process from now on. Election is like a festival. Every voter must be involved in this democratic process. At the same time, others should be encouraged to vote. He also called for furthering the tradition of mass voting in the state of Tripura. On the occasion of voter awareness, election related quiz competition was also organized in MBB College on this day. Prizes were later handed over to the winning students.
