Fairs used to be held in the state in the past. They are being held even now but there is a difference. Government assistance is now being given more than ever before. Efforts are being made for cultural development of the tribal communities of Tripura, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating three-day 48th State-Level Biju Festival at Dopatachara in Kanchanpur organized by Bjiu Festival Development Society yesterday. He said, earlier, in Biju Festival the government grant was 1 lakh rupees. But the present government has increased this government grant to 2 lakh rupees. Government facilities have increased in various fields due to the present government. He said, development work of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been going on since 2014. Developmental works have been going on in Tripura under the leadership of this development-oriented government. A new education policy has been launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This includes vocational courses that will create employment opportunities along with the course. In this new education policy, there is an opportunity to receive education in mother tongue from the fifth grade. The present government is working in a new direction. The present government is working in all fields starting from women empowerment to increasing farmers’ income.
The Chief Minister said, there used to be a government in Tripura. At that time there used to rise a dispute over practicing religious rituals in the state. There was an attempt to break the culture of Tripura. There was no belief in culture in Tripura at that time. This festival would not have taken place today if Tripura had not been free from Covid-19. This achievement belongs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Starting from Covid-19 vaccination, he has handled the pandemic situation in the country with efficiently. After the formation of the present government, sugar, masur dal, tea, oil etc. are being provided at subsidized rates through ration shops in the state. Earlier, the supply of sugar in rations was cut off after the central government subsidy was lifted. But the present government is re-supplying various items with rations.
Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Santana Chakma said, the present government is working for the development of people from all sections of the state. MLA Premkumar Reang also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries present in the inaugural programme were North Tripura DM & Collector Nagesh Kumar B., Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar K. Welcome speech was delivered by MLA Sambhulal Chakma. The programme was presided over by President of Biju Mela Development Society Debjan Chakma. Different departments opened their respective stalls. The programme was followed by cultural performances by artistes from the state and different parts of the country.
